Full house clearance of an occupied period property in Ottery, Devon, cleared from top to bottom and handed back empty.

This was a substantial older house and the rooms had the furniture to match. The dining room alone held a large hardwood table and chairs, a sideboard and a heavy patterned rug, all of it standing on original floorboards that had to come through the job unmarked. We worked with boards down and blankets on the turns, because a scratched floor in a house going to market costs more to put right than the clearance does.

Underneath the furniture there was a cast iron fireplace and a run of leaded windows looking onto the garden. Those are the features that sell a house like this one, and part of the job was making them visible again.

Every room was cleared: furniture, appliances, personal belongings and the contents of the cupboards. Everything was sorted as it was loaded. Items with resale value went to our own auctions and resale channels, and that recovered value came off the clearance cost. Usable furniture and household goods went to reuse, timber and metal were separated for recycling, and only what genuinely could not be saved went for licensed disposal, with a waste transfer note issued on completion.
