St Ives has one of the highest proportions of second homes of any town in England, and the practical consequence is that clearances here often arise when investment properties are sold, when holiday lets are wound down, or when elderly owners who moved here from elsewhere in later life have their estates dealt with by family members who live far away. The medieval street pattern in the old town (Downalong and the areas around the harbour) means access can be challenging for large vehicles, but we have the smaller vehicles and the local knowledge to navigate it. The Carbis Bay and Halsetown areas beyond the town offer more conventional residential stock with its own steady flow of clearance work.

St Ives is a few minutes from our Hayle base, so we can usually get there quickly. A lot of St Ives work involves holiday lets, second homes and older cottages in Downalong and around the harbour, where streets are narrow and parking is almost impossible. We plan these jobs carefully, often carrying items to the van in stages, and we work around holiday changeover days where needed.

Holiday lets and second homes tend to hold good quality furniture, beds and kitchenware, much of which we can resell, which brings your cost down. If you are selling from outside Cornwall, we can collect keys from an agent and keep you updated while the work is done.

We also clear family homes in Carbis Bay, Lelant and Halsetown for probate and bereavement, at whatever pace suits the family.

Why our clearances often cost less

Items of value recovered during a clearance (furniture, antiques, collectables, quality household goods) are passed back as a reduction in your clearance cost. In some cases, particularly where a property contains items of real worth, the clearance costs nothing at all.

We are based in Hayle, West Cornwall, and travel to St Ives regularly. Travel is factored into our quote and never added afterwards.

What happens to the contents

On average, we save around two-thirds of everything we clear from landfill on each clearance. Furniture, books, clothing, and household goods in reasonable condition are taken to our own resale channels or donated to local charities. What cannot be reused or donated is disposed of through registered facilities. We are happy to tell families exactly what happened to belongings.
