Weekly waste collection service
Find out everything you need to know about our Collect & Recycle service.
We run one round a week, every Monday, across Helston, Angarrack, Hayle, Leedstown, Phillack. You pick what you want gone, you pay for those items and nothing else, and we turn up. No call out charge, no minimum, no quote to wait for.
Below is most of what people ask us. If your question isn't here, ring 07843 930927 and you'll get a person, not a menu.
The basics
When do you come?
Mondays. Bookings for a given Monday close at 4pm on Sunday 30 August the day before, because the round gets planned once we know who is on it.
You get your two hour time slot on the Sunday evening, between 6pm and 7pm, by email. We can't give it any earlier than that — until bookings close we don't know what order the round runs in.
What if I'm not in?
That's fine, and it's how most collections go. If everything is outside and we can reach it from the front, you don't need to be there at all. Leave it out before your slot starts and we'll take it.
If we do need to come inside, someone has to be there to let us in. If that turns out not to work — you're at work, the childminder's late, anything — ring us the night before and we'll move you to a different point in the round. It's a five minute job for us on a Sunday evening and a real problem for everybody on a Monday morning.
How long will you be?
Most stops take about fifteen minutes. A couple of bags is quicker than that; a house worth of furniture is longer. If we're running late you'll hear from the driver rather than being left wondering.
Do I have to be home to pay?
No. You pay when you book, by card, and that's the end of it. The driver doesn't handle money and won't ask you for any.
What does it cost to come inside?
5% on top of the item prices. That covers the extra time it takes to carry things out of a property rather than lift them off a drive, and it's shown on the booking page the moment you answer the question — never sprung on you at the payment stage.
Kerbside is the cheaper option because it's genuinely quicker for us. If you can get everything out the front, do.
If things aren't straightforward
I can't move any of it myself. I'm disabled, elderly, or unwell.
Then don't move it. That's what we're for.
Choose "we need to come in" when you book, tell us in the note where everything is, and leave the rest to us. We do this every week for people who can't lift, can't manage stairs, or shouldn't be trying. Nobody will make you feel awkward about it.
If you'd rather explain it on the phone than type it into a form, ring 07843 930927 and we'll book it in for you.
Access is genuinely awkward and I can't improve it.
Tell us what we're walking into and we'll work with it. Narrow lane, no parking, third floor with no lift, a gate that only opens halfway, a long path round the back — none of that is unusual round here and none of it is a reason we won't come.
What we'd rather not do is find out on the doorstep. A sentence in the note when you book, or a photo, means the driver arrives with the right kit and the right amount of time. Both are on the booking form.
Something's changed since I booked.
Ring us. Free to change or cancel up to 4pm on Sunday 30 August, and after that we'll still do what we can — we'd rather rearrange than have you lose the money or us waste a stop.
If you've found more to get rid of since booking, you can add to an existing booking right up until the van arrives. Same again: give us a ring.
It's a bereavement, or a house I'm clearing for someone else.
We do a lot of these and we'll take it at whatever pace suits you. If you're not sure what's going yet, book what you know about and add the rest later, or ring us and we'll talk it through properly.
We also do full house clearances, which may work out better than item-by-item for a whole property. There's more about that here.
Do I need to disconnect the fridge or washing machine?
Only if you can do it safely. If it's still plumbed in or wired in, tick the box on the booking form and the driver will come prepared. It doesn't cost anything extra — we just need to know so we're not standing in your kitchen looking for a spanner.
Anything on a gas supply has to be disconnected by a Gas Safe engineer before we can take it. That one isn't us being awkward, it's the law.
Where it all goes
Is any of this actually recycled?
As much of it as we can manage. Furniture in decent condition goes to reuse rather than landfill, metal and electricals are separated out, and the rest is sorted at a licensed transfer station rather than tipped in a hole.
Are you licensed?
Yes. We're a licensed waste carrier, Environment Agency registration CBDU590448. That's your protection as much as ours: fly-tipped waste is traced back to whoever produced it, not whoever dumped it, so it matters who you hand it to.
You get a VAT invoice by email with every booking, with our company number and licence on it.
Is there anything you can't take?
Asbestos, gas bottles, paint and chemicals, tyres, and anything on a gas supply that hasn't been disconnected properly. If you're not sure, ring and ask before you book — it's a thirty second conversation.
Ready to book?
Pick your items, choose kerbside or inside, and you're done. Takes a couple of minutes.
